The mission of the IAOMT is to protect public health and the environment. We accomplish our mission by funding and promoting relevant research, accumulating and disseminating scientific information, investigating and promoting non-invasive scientifically valid therapies, and educating medical and dental
professionals, policy makers, and the general public. The IAOMT has a federal tax-exempt status as a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with Public Charity Status 509(a)(2).
Research Grant-Making Focus
Our organization provides grants to qualified researchers, academic organizations, and other non-profit organizations to conduct research that furthers our mission of protecting public health and protecting the environment. We are interested in research grants that are designed to provide impetus to projects
that have scientific merit but have been overlooked by the research community at-large. Additionally, the clinical application of the research in the management, care and treatment of patients will be essential in the consideration of the grant application. Specifically, we provide grants that examine the connections between systemic health and:
- Fluoride toxicology
- Mercury toxicology
- Jawbone pathology (chronic apical periodontitis) and especially jawbone cavitations
- Periodontitis etiology, prevention and treatment
- Dental pulp necrosis etiology, prevention, and treatment
- Dental caries etiology, prevention, and treatment
- Compromised airway etiology, prevention and treatment
- Compromised biological/bioregulatory terrain etiology, prevention and treatment
- Anti-infection therapies utilizing non-pharmaceutical agents (i.e. medical ozone)
- Biocompatibility and toxicology of dental therapeutics
These areas of research interest may change based on the recommendations of the IAOMT Board and its Scientific Advisory Council (SAC). These areas of research interest are reviewed on an annual basis. Grant Overview Applications for grants are accepted on a rolling basis, however the approval process is semi-annual based on the input of the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) and the approval of the IAOMT Board. Grant applications are accepted from either non-profit organizations, academic institutions, or individuals. Grants are typically for one calendar year but may be extended through a formal extension process.
Grants typically range from $5000 to $50,000. Larger grants may be considered if the project is considered to possess sufficient merit.
Funding requests should align with the mission of the IAOMT and be an area of research interest to the IAOMT. Priority will be given to those proposals that are deemed to be publishable in scientific journals.
